Israeli spy balloon approved for purchase by US Army
The US Army has approved the purchase of the Skystar 180, a surveillance aerostat produced by Israeli firm RT. The device, which can stay airborne for up to three days in any weather and can be ready for use again after a 20-minute re-inflation break, passed all the annual Army Expeditionary Warrior Experiment (AEWE) tests. The aerostat is designed for surveillance over fixed sites such as military bases, temporary camps, strategic facilities, and border crossing checkpoints. It can also lift a payload of up to 6.5 kilograms and be managed by two people.
