Bzigo tracks and highlights wily mosquitoes
Israeli startup Bzigo has developed a device that optically tracks mosquitoes and highlights them with an eye-safe laser. The device incorporates an infrared LED, an HD wide-angle infrared camera, and a microprocessor to differentiate between mosquitoes and other airborne objects. Once a mosquito is detected, the user is notified via a smartphone app and the device laser-projects a box around the mosquito. The current prototype can detect mosquitoes up to a distance of 8 meters and is intended for indoor use. Bzigo is in talks with investors and plans to launch the product early next year.
