Sage Israel R&D center was founded in Tel Aviv in 2018 with the acquisition of the startup Budgeta. The Israeli team develops a financial planning and analysis platform that revolutionizes the decision-making process in Finance teams of mid-size companies around the globe. In 2021, Sage acquired another Israeli startup called TaskSheriff in order to further strengthen Sages AI-enabled technology, with the TaskSheriff founders joining Sage AI Labs, a global team of AI engineers, product managers and data scientists based in San Francisco, Melbourne, Barcelona and Tel Aviv. Sage Israel R&D center became the first company in Israel to announce a 4-day workweek with the same pay and conditions in February 2022.

Israeli startup Budgeta has developed a cloud-based tool for financial planning that aims to replace outdated Excel spreadsheets. The company has been acquired by British software giant Sage, with whom they had previously partnered. Budgetas founders stated that Sage will establish a development center in Israel and that Budgeta employees will join the acquiring company. Sage has acquired Budgetas product and is now offering it to its own customers under the name Sage Intacct. The acquisition amount was not disclosed.
