Catheter-based treatment device part of successful procedures
Pi-Cardia has successfully performed first-in-human procedures with its ShortCut device, which is designed to split the leaflets of a pre-existing heart valve for safe Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). The TAVR market is predicted to double over the next five years, and ShortCut addresses a challenge in the procedure that may hinder its growth. The first ShortCut cases were performed by Dr. Danny Dvir, who praised the devices ability to prevent coronary obstruction. Pi-Cardia also offers the Leaflex device for treating aortic stenosis, and clinical trials are underway.
