Shutterfly buys photo software co Photoccino for $20m

Shutterfly has acquired Photoccino, a developer of photo ranking and analysis technologies. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but market sources estimate the acquisition to be worth $10-20 million. Photoccinos employees will join Shutterfly and continue to be based in Haifa. The integration of Photoccinos technologies will improve the organization and selection of photos for Shutterflys customers, enhancing their ability to create photo books, calendars, cards, and gifts. Shutterflys CEO stated that the acquisition will exponentially improve the creative experience for customers. Photoccinos CEO expressed excitement about the opportunity to achieve their goals at a larger scale with Shutterfly. The acquisition was announced on May 31, 2012.
