Snake venom could relieve arthritis
Scientists at the Shulov Institute of Sciences (SIS) in Israel claim that snake venom could potentially ease the pain of arthritis and cancer. They have isolated a molecule from the venom that has analgesic properties and created a synthetic copy called VeP-3. A snake venom pain-relieving cream could be available for sale within five years. The Arthritis Research Campaign has heard of cases where people with arthritis experienced pain reduction after being bitten by snakes or stung by bees or nettles. However, seeking out venomous creatures is not recommended, and a synthetic form of venom without toxins may be a safer solution.
