SMART Medical Systems receives Additional FDA Clearance for its G-EYE® Colonoscope, and Commences Clinical Work in the USA
SMART Medical Systems has announced the initiation of commercial and clinical effort in the USA following the issuance of a second FDA clearance for its flagship G-EYE Colonoscope. The G-EYE Colonoscope is a 510(k) cleared colonoscope that includes a proprietary balloon at its distal bending section. The balloon assists in controlling the colonoscopes field of view and positioning, leading to an increase in the detection of pre-cancerous polyps. The first G-EYE installation in the USA took place at NYU Langone Health in collaboration with Fujifilm. SMART Medical Systems aims to make the G-EYE a standard of care in colonoscopy.

SMART Medical Systems has announced a strategic distribution partnership with Fujifilm to commercialize SMARTs G-EYE® endoscope in Europe. The G-EYE® endoscope is designed to enhance visualization of the colon and increase the detection of cancerous polyps. The flagship product to be commercialized under the partnership is the G-EYE® 760R colonoscope, which integrates the G-EYE® Balloon Technology with Fujifilms ELUXEO system. SMART Medical Systems aims to make the G-EYE® balloon endoscope available to more hospitals and practitioners, starting in Europe.

Gastro-intestinal endoscopy co SMART raises $8m
Israeli gastro-intestinal endoscopy developer SMART Medical Systems has raised $8 million in series B financing led by Signet Healthcare Partners. The funds will be used primarily to commercialize its G-EYE system, which enhances polyp detection during cancer-prevention colonoscopy procedures. The G-EYE is a novel add-on balloon device that works with standard endoscopes to assist visualization of the colon. The partnership with Signet will provide resources for executing the companys commercial plan and making the G-EYE widely available. SMART plans to expand commercial activity with its partners in existing and new markets, obtain FDA clearance for the G-EYE product, and build US commercial operations.
