Self-test your sense of smell to help detect coronavirus
The Weizmann Institute has developed an online platform called SmellTracker that allows individuals to self-monitor their sense of smell to detect early signs of Covid-19. The platform uses a mathematical model to create an individuals unique olfactory fingerprint and guides users through an odor test to identify any sudden changes in smell perception. The test has already identified potential coronavirus cases that were later confirmed. The venture is backed by the Ministry of Defense and will be promoted in several countries. Additionally, the institute is distributing scratch and smell kits to confirmed coronavirus patients to map their sense of smell.
