SolidRun has announced SolidNET, a line of Arm-based software-defined data processing unit (DPU) PCIe cards. The DPUs offload network and NVMe functions from the host server CPU, improving application performance and providing physical isolation between server compute resources and infrastructure. SolidRun has launched the HummingBoard Ripple, a stripped-down version of the HummingBoard Pulse SBC. The Ripple runs Linux on an i.MX8M Mini module and has an optional Lightspeeur SPR2803 neural accelerator. It is part of SolidRuns new HummingBoard-M family. The Ripple is priced at $170 and up. It removes several features found on the Pulse, including the MIPI-DSI, digital audio, and one each of the dual GbE and MIPI-CSI links. It also switches the HDMI port to micro-HDMI. The Ripple is available with the quad-core, 1.8GHz i.MX8M Mini SOM, with 2GB LPDDR4 and 8GB eMMC. SolidRun also offers a version with the Gyrfalcon Lightspeeur SPR2803 AI acceleration chip. The Ripple is aimed at the open-source hardware community.

The SoM includes a choice of Intel Atom x5-8000 or Pentium N3710 CPUs, memory, and storage. SolidRun expects the MicroSoM to begin shipping in 4-6 weeks, with prices ranging from $117 to $225.
