Israeli start-up SpacePharma has developed a computer for conducting biological experiments in space. The computer, based on off-the-shelf components and a Raspberry Pi card, is manufactured in Israel by Nisko and is much cheaper than other space computers. The companys biological lab, which weighs only about four kilograms, is currently concluding its operation at the International Space Station. The lab, which was launched last month on SpaceXs CRS-24 mission, will return to Earth on a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, allowing the Israeli team to examine how the system withstood space conditions.
