SparkIL, a new social lending platform, has been launched by The Jewish Agency and Ogen Group. The platform connects small and micro-businesses in Israels social and geographical periphery with investors from around the world. The platform was born out of an initiative by Amira Ahronoviz, CEO of The Jewish Agency. The project was made possible thanks to donations from the Max and Margery Fisher Foundation, the UJA Federation of New York, and other donors. The goal is to reach an active market with tens of thousands of investors and hundreds of businesses per year.

New platform seeks to connect microfunders directly with Israeli small businesses
SparkIL, a new crowdfunding platform, is helping small businesses in Israel by providing interest-free loans. The platform aims to support entrepreneurs in setting up and launching their startups, while also fostering a connection between Jews in the Diaspora and Israel. SparkIL is a partnership between The Jewish Agency for Israel, The Ogen Group, the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation, and UJA-Federation of New York. It currently features six small businesses seeking loans and plans to expand to include enterprises owned by different communities in Israel. The platform allows lenders to choose which businesses to support and offers a five-year repayment period. SparkIL is also exploring partnerships with organizations like Masa Israel and the Jewish Funders Network to engage younger generations in philanthropy and strengthen the connection with Israel.

The platform aims to connect lenders worldwide with Israeli business owners, particularly those in the periphery, to provide social loans. Or, who has over 20 years of management experience in Israel and the US, will lead Spark IL from its launch to full operation, making the platform accessible to small businesses in Israel. She will also be responsible for raising lenders from Israel and around the world to support these loans.
