STMicroelectronics Pioneers Smaller and Faster Chargers and Power Supplies with World's First Driver and GaN Device
STMicroelectronics has unveiled MasterGaN, a platform that integrates a half-bridge driver based on silicon technology with a pair of gallium-nitride (GaN) transistors. This platform enables the creation of smaller and more efficient chargers and power adapters for consumer and industrial applications. The use of GaN technology allows for handling more power while reducing size, weight, and energy consumption. The MasterGaN platform bypasses the challenges of using discrete power transistors and driver ICs, resulting in faster time to market, improved performance, and increased reliability. The first product in the platform, MasterGaN1, is already in production and available for purchase. It is expected to have a positive impact on the growth of STMicroelectronics.
