Standing Still Overview

Standing Still is an initiative that strives to share some of the most Israeli days with the world, and help you be a part of our community. Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoa) and Memorial Day (Yom Hazikaron) are engraved in the Israeli DNA, and have a significant part of our culture. Just like Yom Kippur, both days can not be described to someone who hasn't experienced them in Israel. We welcome you to stand with us for the memory of the 6 million who are not here with us, for the ones who fought and gave their lives to protect us, for the survivors who stand tall and proud until this day, and for the ones who are risking their lives so we can live free. With the Standing Still app, you can experience and respect the Sirens that stop the life of a whole country for a few minutes wherever you are on the globe. Standing Still helps millions of Israelis, Jews, and all people who care about Israel throughout the world to commemorate those two significant days, and allows you to feel just like in Israel, even if only for two minutes. We encourage you to donate to one or both of our partners in this campaign: The Foundation for the Benefit of the Holocaust Victims in Israel and The Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin. Standing Still was created by an Israeli couple who relocated temporarily to New York.

Standing Still app globalizes Israel's days of remembrance

Amir and Rotem Lev Zwickel, an Israeli couple, have launched a mobile app called Standing Still. The app allows people worldwide to stop and stand in silence during the Holocaust Remembrance Day and Israeli Memorial Day two-minute sirens. The app also enables users to donate to the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Survivors and the Lone Soldier Center. Standing Still is the first project of The Israeli Connection, a nonprofit venture. The app was developed in collaboration with the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel and the Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin.

The app aims to connect Jews in the Diaspora to the Israeli present and reality. Users can download the app and schedule it to hear the siren at the same time it is being sounded in Israel. The app also allows users to donate to Holocaust survivors and lone soldiers in need.
