aMoon, Roche pick first two cos for Starfinder Lab program
aMoon fund and Roche Diagnostics have selected two companies, Sentient and Causalis, for their Starfinder Lab program in the fields of digital pathology and lung cancer diagnosis. Sentient uses AI to produce synthetic pictures for training AI systems in pathology, while Causalis uses AI to predict the best drug treatment for lung cancer patients. The companies will receive $250,000 in finance and access to medical databases. The partnership aims to identify interesting fields and challenges for 2022 and create global companies. The selection process involved 51 companies and the intention is to choose nine companies over three years.

Roche, aMoon to launch early-stage innovation program
Israel-based life sciences venture capital firm aMoon and Swiss biotechnology company Roche have announced a collaborative agreement to launch an early-stage investment program named StarFinder Digital Innovation Lab. The program will run for the next three years, with three companies selected and receiving investments each year. It will provide elected entrepreneurs access to global expertise, a network of contacts, investment, studies and deep data, and physical office space. The partnership aims to build disruptive startups in the life sciences and healthtech sectors. Roche, a global healthcare company, sees this program as a valuable aspect of its digital healthcare footprint.
