Bringing the Startup Nation to Israel's Bedouin community
Startup Negev, a tech accelerator established by the non-profit Mata Advanced Technology Center, aims to support and nurture entrepreneurs from the Bedouin community in the Negev Desert. The accelerator recently completed its first cycle, recruiting young men and women with technological backgrounds from across the Negev. The participants were divided into teams and provided with mentors to work on their products. The first-place winners created a technological learning platform for young children with learning disabilities. Startup Negev aims to encourage the development of the high-tech industry in the Negev and hopes that its alumni will become role models in the Bedouin community.
