Surgical Science Sweden buys Simbionix for $305m

3D Systems has sold its surgical simulation and training company, Simbionix, to Surgical Science Sweden AB for $305 million. Simbionix, founded in Israel in 1997, specializes in patient-specific simulation and training products for surgical procedures. The acquisition will integrate Simbionix with Surgical Science to create a market-leading company in the simulation of medical procedures, including advanced robotic surgery. Simbionix had a revenue of $40.8 million in 2020 and has established collaborations with medical technology companies and academic institutions. The sale is part of 3D Systems initiative to divest non-core businesses and focus on additive manufacturing solutions.
