Toshiba tender offer pushed back to Aug due to regulatory delay
Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie criticized the dysfunction in the U.S. House of Representatives, where a small group of Republican lawmakers voted along with the Democratic minority to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy. This left the House without a way to pass legislation, including foreign aid. Christie also expressed his support for Israel following a large-scale attack by the militant group Hamas, stating that the U.S. should provide Israel with everything it needs to defend itself.

Western Digital and Japan’s Kioxia Seek to Reach Merger Deal by August
Western Digital Corp. and Kioxia Holdings Corp. are reportedly aiming to reach a merger agreement by August. The deal would involve a tax-free spinoff of Western Digital’s flash business, which would then merge with Kioxia. Western Digital shareholders would own slightly more than 50% of the merged entity. The company would be run by Kioxia executives, with Western Digital executives also being involved. Both chipmakers would have board representation and the combined company would be domiciled in Japan. The merged entity would trade on the Nasdaq initially but eventually list in Tokyo. The $15 billion scramble for Japan's Toshiba went from bang to whimper
Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie has criticised the irresponsibility of Republicans in the House of Representatives, following a large-scale attack on Israel by militant group Hamas. Christie, a former New Jersey governor and ABC News contributor, said the U.S. should provide Israel with everything that it needs to defend itself. He also called out the dysfunction in the House, where a small group of Republican lawmakers last week voted with the Democratic minority to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy, leaving it without a way to pass legislation, including foreign aid.

Toshiba to open first Israeli R&D center
OCZ Technology Group Inc.s Israeli development center, acquired through the acquisition of Sanrad, will become Toshiba Corporations first development center in Israel. OCZ, once a major storage products developer, went bankrupt and sold its client and enterprise solid state drive business to Toshiba. The acquisition is seen as a positive change in ownership for OCZ Israel CEO Oded Ilan, who is optimistic about the possibilities that Toshibas deep pockets will bring. The acquisition of Sanrad, a software company specializing in improving the performance of enterprise storage systems, contributed to Toshibas acquisition of OCZ.
