American video company Vimeo is expanding its presence in Israel and plans to increase its workforce by tens of percent, according to Zohar Dayan, Vice President of Product at Vimeo and manager of operations in Israel. The expansion, which will include the recruitment of about 40 employees in the coming months, comes after the company laid off employees last year, including in Israel, and its workforce in the country shrank. Despite many companies reducing their operations in the country due to challenging security and social conditions, Vimeo continues to see Israel as a vital technology center.

Vimeo global layoffs to include Israel
Video platform company Vimeo is cutting its workforce by 11%, including design and creative staff, software programmers, and product development and marketing teams in Israel. This is the second wave of layoffs after the company fired 70 employees in July 2022. The CEO stated that the decision will allow Vimeo to be more focused and successful, invest in growth goals, and become profitable. Vimeos share price has fallen 94% since its IPO in May 2021, but has risen 13% in the past five days. The companys market cap is $598 million. Vimeos Israel operations were based on the acquisition of video creation company Magisto in 2019. In 2021, Vimeo acquired Israeli AI video startup Wibbitz.

Vimeo slashes workforce by 6%, including in Israel R&D center CTech
Vimeo, the video hosting, sharing, and services platform, is laying off 6% of its workforce, which equates to around 70 employees, including 10 from its Israel location. The company had planned to double its headcount in Israel, but due to the global economic downturn, it is reducing it instead. Vimeos local R&D center is built around the staff of automated video creation company Wibbitz, which it acquired last November, and Israeli startup Magisto, bought for $100 million in 2019.

Vimeo has announced agreements to acquire WIREWAX and Wibbitz, two companies that bring proprietary technology and products to Vimeos all-in-one video solution. The acquisitions are expected to extend Vimeos position as a professional video software solution for businesses. WIREWAX specializes in interactive and shoppable video experiences, while Wibbitz provides an enterprise video creation suite. Both companies capabilities will be added to the Vimeo platform in 2022. Video giant Vimeo doubles Israeli workforce
Video platform Vimeo plans to double its Israeli-based workforce, aiming to go from 120 to more than 200 workers in its Ness Ziona R&D center in the coming year. The Israeli center was established following Vimeos 2019 acquisition of local company Magisto for about $100 million. The R&D center focuses on artificial intelligence technology within video creation and is expanding into new areas of development. Vimeo offers video products to creators, businesses, and organizations and has over 200 million users. It is traded on Nasdaq with a market value of about $8 billion.

Vimeo launches short-form social video editing platform powered by Magisto
Vimeo has launched Vimeo Create, an AI-powered platform for creatives and businesses to produce short-form videos. The platform is part of Vimeos pivot to position itself as a place for video creation tools. Vimeo Create is based on the stock video marketplace launched by Vimeo in 2018 and incorporates technology from Magisto, an AI-powered video-editing service acquired by Vimeo. The platform allows users to search for relevant videos, upload original content, and add text, music, and animations. Vimeo Create is currently available on the web and will be launching mobile apps in the future. Paid members of Vimeo will be able to save and distribute their videos across the web.

Vimeo buys Israeli video creation co Magisto for $200m
Vimeo Inc. has announced the acquisition of Israeli video creation service Magisto for an estimated $200 million. With this acquisition, Vimeo aims to extend its position as the industrys most complete video SaaS solution. The combination of Magistos professional video creation capabilities with Vimeos suite of video hosting, distribution, and monetization tools will empower more people to create compelling stories through video. Magisto users will also gain access to Vimeos workflow tools. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the second quarter.
