Elbit Systems Ltd. announced that the Companys President and CEO, Joseph Ackerman, will retire and Bezhalel Machlis will succeed him. The retirement and new appointment will become effective on April 1, 2013. Ackerman will continue to serve as President and CEO until that time. The Board of Directors intends to recommend that Ackerman be appointed to the Board as Vice Chairman after his retirement. Under Ackermans leadership, the Company has become Israels largest defense company and a leader in the defense and aerospace industry. Machlis, currently an Executive Vice President, has been with the Company since 1991 and has led the Elbit Systems Land and C4I Division for the last eight years. The Board expressed deep appreciation for Ackermans contribution and confidence in Machlis ability to continue the Companys success.

Ackerman has served in various positions within Elbit Systems for 30 years and has been CEO and president for 16 years. Under his leadership, Elbit has increased its revenues tenfold and has grown from a primarily local company to a globally recognized leader in the defense market. Ackermans retirement and Machliss appointment will take effect in March 2013. The board of directors intends to recommend Ackerman as Vice Chairman of the Board after completing his duties as president.
