Yossi Ackerman Overview

Yossi Ackerman is an angel investor, business mentor, and the former President and CEO of Elbit Systems, an Israel-based international defense electronics company engaged in a wide range of programs throughout the world. He joined Elbit in 1982 and held various management positions, including GM of EFW, SVP of Operations Group, VP of Operations, and VP of Advanced Battlefield Systems. From 1994 to 1996, he served as SVP and GM of Elbit's Defense Systems Division (EDS). He also served as the Chairman and as a Director of Elbit Systems EW and SIGINT - Elisra and Elbit Systems. He has also served as the Chairman of Tadiran Communications (since 2005), as the Chairman of Elbit Systems (from 1996 to 2004), and as the Vice Chairman of Elbit Systems (from April 1, 2013 to November 19, 2013). He has also served as a Director of Imagesat International N.v. In addition, Mr. Ackerman co-founded OpenValley, an entrepreneurial co-working space. Its workspaces are offered through a flexible rental model and include private offices, meeting rooms, lounges, and inspirational spaces. OpenValley members can enjoy networking, lectures, and professional seminars. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Israel Institute of Technology (the Technion).

Elbit Systems Ltd. announced that the Companys President and CEO, Joseph Ackerman, will retire and Bezhalel Machlis will succeed him. The retirement and new appointment will become effective on April 1, 2013. Ackerman will continue to serve as President and CEO until that time. The Board of Directors intends to recommend that Ackerman be appointed to the Board as Vice Chairman after his retirement. Under Ackermans leadership, the Company has become Israels largest defense company and a leader in the defense and aerospace industry. Machlis, currently an Executive Vice President, has been with the Company since 1991 and has led the Elbit Systems Land and C4I Division for the last eight years. The Board expressed deep appreciation for Ackermans contribution and confidence in Machlis ability to continue the Companys success.

Elbit Systems announced the retirement of its President and CEO, Yossi Ackerman, and the appointment of Bezhalel Machlis as his replacement. Ackerman has served in various positions within Elbit Systems for 30 years and has been CEO and president for 16 years. Under his leadership, Elbit has increased its revenues tenfold and has grown from a primarily local company to a globally recognized leader in the defense market. Ackermans retirement and Machliss appointment will take effect in March 2013. The board of directors intends to recommend Ackerman as Vice Chairman of the Board after completing his duties as president.
