Founded in 2023 after extensive research conducted at Volcani Institute, N2OFF is an Israeli early-stage company developing a microbial solution that directly reduces nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions from agricultural fertilizer use, a greenhouse gas with nearly 300 times the warming potential of CO₂. The company has isolated five effective bacterial strains and filed two patents protecting its technology, which can be applied as a seed coating, soil amendment, or foliar spray. Greenhouse and semi-field trials in wheat and corn have shown 30–60% emission reductions without yield penalties, and large-scale field trials are planned with leading partners. N2OFF is advancing product formulation, field validation, and carbon credit pathways, while pursuing partnerships with industry stakeholders and regulators.
