Dell EMC laying off dozens in Israel
Dell EMC is laying off dozens of employees in its data protection division in Israel and moving its data protection business out of the country. The company confirmed the layoffs and stated that it is transferring data protection jobs to other sites around the world. Inbar will continue to lead the centers while taking on his new role. Dell EMCs Israeli research and development branch focuses on various areas including flash storage, software-defined storage, and cloud computing. Dell EMC has acquired and integrated several Israeli startups into its research and development centers, with a total investment of over $1 billion. The company also invests in startups through Dell Technologies Capital.

Dr. Orna Berry, the vice president and general manager of research and development for Dell EMC in Israel, announced her retirement. Berry is known as the first woman to serve as chief scientist in the Economy Ministry’s Israel Innovation Authority. She played a key role in expanding Dell EMCs R&D activity in Israel, founding two sites and enlarging existing offices. Dan Inbar will now oversee Dell EMC Israel R&D centers at four sites. Berry is recognized for her commitment to promoting excellence, entrepreneurship, and innovation. She is also involved in mentoring programs for women in hi-tech. Dell EMC provides infrastructure, storage, and cybersecurity tools for companies and organizations.

Erez Tsur Appointed CEO Of EMC Israel
EMC announced the appointment of Erez Tsur as the new CEO in Israel, replacing Danny Neuberger. Tsur will lead EMCs business in Israel and work with the companys clients. EMC has a sales and services division, as well as a research and development sector in Israel. Tsur previously served as the CEO of Candence Design Systems.

EMC to open R&D center in Beersheba
EMC Corporation announces the opening of a new Research & Development Center in Beersheba, Israel. The facility will strengthen the companys investment and presence in Israel and support customer and partner growth. The Center of Excellence (COE) in Israel will unify RSAs presence and EMCs R&D facilities into one state-of-the-art COE in Herzliya. The COE in Israel is part of EMCs global network of COEs. The new facility will benefit from the Israeli Governments incentives for multinational companies in peripheral areas of Israel. The facility will be located near Ben-Gurion University and SCE, enabling collaboration with young technologists.

Israeli start-up Cyota sold to RSA Security for $145m
RSA Security has acquired Cyota, a developer of security solutions against identity theft, for $145 million, including $136 million in cash. Cyota, which has raised $30 million in funding, sells long-term service contracts to banks and financial institutions. The acquisition is expected to have a positive impact on Cyotas growth. Cyotas investors include Giza Venture Capital, Israel Seed Partners, Poalim Ventures, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, JAFCO Investment (Asia Pacific) Ltd., and RRE Ventures. RSA Security, with a market cap of $936 million, is known for its digital protection solutions and is considered a competitor of Aladdin Knowledge Systems Ltd. This is RSA Securitys first acquisition in Israel.
