Enel SpA engages in the electricity generation and distribution and distribution of natural gas. Its products include green power: production of energy from renewable sources; thermal generation: produces electricity for grids; infrastructure and networks: operates power networks; energy supply: energy to homes and businesses; and global trading that manages integated portfolios that involve hedging activities to reduce risk and regulate energy supply In 2016, Enel launched its first innovation hub in Tel-Aviv, one of the most successful innovation communities in Israel and the world. This EIH served as cornerstone for what has become a global network of 9 innovation hubs and 22 labs spread across 6 countries around the globe. The Israeli Enel Innovation Hub helps connect promising startups, tech companies and potential partners with Enel and its business lines. EIH Israel is deeply involved in the local ecosystem, identifies potential initiatives and business opportunities within the territory and lays a solid foundation for further activities of all other Innovation Hubs. The AI & Robotics Laboratory, which is located in the heart of Tel Aviv’s downtown area, is managed by Enel Green Power and Enel Grids. Its aim is to increase our presence in a fast-growing and welcoming ecosystem. The Laboratory will host startups, either in the early or more mature phases of development, with a view to bringing new disruptive technologies into Enel’s business lines and improving the positioning of the startups in the electrical and energy fields globally, thereby speeding up their development. The Lab will foster synergies between innovation in robotics and AI in order to boost the scale-up inside the business lines, leveraging on institutions, universities and associations, as well as funding opportunities in Israel.

Italian energy company Enel SpA, the largest issuer of sustainability-linked bonds (SLBs), is likely to miss its end of 2023 carbon-emissions goal due to changes in European energy policy. This could result in an estimated $27 million of additional annual interest costs. The energy crisis, sparked by Russias invasion of Ukraine, is impacting companies climate commitments. Enels failure to meet its goal would be the most significant penalty yet in the SLB market. Swedish bank SEB AB warned last month that around a third of issuers arent on track to meet their targets.

Mastercard and Enel X Win Right to Establish New Fintech-Cybersecurity Laboratory with $3.7 Million State Funding

Italian energy giant uses Israeli drone to oversee plant maintenance

Enel, Italys energy giant, has partnered with Israeli drone-developing startup Percepto to use its Sparrow drone system at one of its power plants in northern Italy. The Sparrow drone, powered by computer vision and AI technology, will fly in automated mode to oversee operations and maintenance. It carries regular and night-vision cameras, enabling round-the-clock operations and data collection. The Sparrow drone acts autonomously, collecting and analyzing data, and transmitting accurate information to Enel personnel. Perceptos drone-in-a-box solution increases flight frequency and anomaly detection, reducing operational costs and improving site productivity. Enel opened its innovation hub in Tel Aviv in 2016 to tap into Israeli technologies.
