Spanish telecom giant Telefonica scouts Israeli startups for disruptive tech

Telefonicas innovation division, Wayra X, is scouting Israeli startups for disruptive technologies in various sectors. Wayra X aims to look outside the footprints of Telefonica and discover innovation across fields and countries. The division made its first investment in an Israeli startup, Upword, which developed an AI-powered summarization and reading productivity tool. Wayra X focuses on B2C mass markets such as 5G, e-health, e-learning, smart home, entertainment, mobility, and the future of work. Wayra X is looking to add two to three Israeli startups to its investment portfolio by the end of the year.
