NetOne loses arbitration case against FTS... ordered to pay US$5 million - Nehanda Radio
NetOne, the second largest mobile operator in Zimbabwe, has lost an arbitration case against Formula Telecom Solutions (FTS) over the cancellation of a billing system agreement. The London International Court of Arbitration ordered NetOne to pay FTS $5 million in compensation. The judgment needs to be registered with local courts to be enforceable. NetOne is currently facing a leadership crisis with board members resigning and the CEO and CFO being suspended. Corporate governance experts are calling for an investigation into the resignations. The board has been accused of concealing information and not addressing the court case. NetOne had terminated the FTS agreement and signed a new agreement with ZTE for double the value. NetOne must now find $5 million to settle the dispute.
