The Israeli Ministry of Defense is in advanced negotiations with the U.S. government to purchase JASSM missiles from Lockheed Martin. These missiles, known for their maneuverability and ability to evade radar, are a significant asset for air defense systems. The basic version of the missile has been in service since 2009, with an extended range version, JASSM-ER, now available. The U.S. defense budget for 2025 has allocated funds for purchasing 550 of these missiles. The JASSM-ER can be launched from advanced platforms like the F-35, which Israel has used operationally since 2018.
