The Israeli Ministry of Defense is in advanced negotiations with the U.S. government to purchase JASSM missiles from Lockheed Martin. The basic version of the missile has been in service since 2009, with an extended range version, JASSM-ER, now available. The U.S. defense budget for 2025 has allocated funds for purchasing 550 of these missiles. Israels acquisition of these missiles would enhance its military capabilities, particularly against Irans improving air defense systems. The JASSM-ER can be launched from advanced platforms like the F-35, which Israel has used operationally since 2018.
