Sensible Medical Innovations has developed the ReDS medical radar technology, which originated from the defense industrys see through walls technology. ReDS is designed to monitor and manage patients with fluid management problems, including patients living with heart failure (HF), taking diuretic medication, or recovering from an event related to coronary artery disease. ReDS is intended for use by qualified healthcare practitioners and by patients under the direction of a physician in hospitals, hospital-type facilities, and the home environment. In a pilot study, ReDS-guided HF management reduced the number of HF-related rehospitalizations by approximately 80%. The company is headquartered in Israel with commercial offices in the United States. In August 2015, Sensible Medicals noninvasive thoracic fluid status monitor was cleared for market in the United States.

Doctors at The Ohio State University Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital are testing a high-tech vest that measures fluid inside the lungs to prevent repeated hospital trips for heart failure patients. The SensiVest, created by Sensible Medical, uses radar technology to accurately measure water inside the lungs. The vest is being tested in a national clinical trial to determine its effectiveness in monitoring and managing lung fluid, reducing hospitalizations, and improving quality of life. A previous study showed an 87 percent reduction in heart failure hospitalizations with the use of the vest. Patients in the trial will be followed for up to nine months.
